History

The Latymer Sub-Aqua Club, LSAC, was set up in 1991 by Roger Green and Andy Papacosta

and it has gone from strength to strength since its conception. The club has over 40 members.

Now that the club has a solid base, it is ready to offer its services to the community;

hence it has set up it's Diving Club for people with disabilities.

In 1995 Loyd Grossman learnt to dive with our club and is our patron.

From small beginnings . . .

For beginners, training starts in the warmth and safety of the swimming pool.

Here you become familiar with the equipment (which we provide) and learn all the basic practical skills;

we complement this with dry sessions to add understanding and knowledge.

Classes are small so you get lots of individual attention.

. . . to a whole new underwater world

When you are ready, it is in the sea that you complete your diver training to the internationally

recognised sport diver standard. but learning diving does not have to end here; as you progress

and gain experience we have courses to help you develop special interests and these can often be incorporated in expeditions which we arrange for all levels of diver, both in the UK and overseas.

The sport of SCUBA diving is quite demanding and a certain level of general good health

and physical fitness is required for those interested in having a go. Any person with

a medical condition (whatever the nature) must consult a doctor with a knowledge of diving,

before they consider taking part in the sport.
